Written Statement


I created this image with moving lights.  I made the background darker, in order to show a better contrast between the colors.  When I took the photograph, I wanted the lines that were created by the lights to extend through the whole image.  I liked the lines that were created because the viewer's eyes don't focus on one spot, but instead follow the lines through the entire composition.  Also, I chose landscape orientation in order to show more of the effects from the lights.

Based on the comments from critique, I am not going to make any changes or improvements to this photograph.  While the photograph seems to have a brownish colored tint, other individuals liked it and I decided to keep it, instead of trying to change it to black.  I could use this image in a larger project or series and create more images using lights, with various techniques to get different results.
