Blog Prompt #20

1. Describe some common aesthetic aspects of “news”-related photographs.

"News"-related photographs try to appeal to the viewer's emotions. For example, if the story is about something tragic happening, the photographs are going to show the tragedy in the best way that they can to help the viewer understand the story.

2. Describe some common aesthetic aspects of “snapshots”.

"Snapshots" are generally fun pictures taken with friends. They are generally happy images. Sometimes these types of photographs aren't centered or have people or parts of people cropped out of the image.

3. Describe some common aesthetic aspects of advertisement photographs. Fashion photography? Product photography?

Advertisement photographs try to appeal to the viewer, so the viewer feels that they need the product/service being advertised. They generally show beautiful images/people and most of the time are edited to further "perfect" the photograph.

4. Describe some common aesthetic aspects of film or movie stills.

Film or movie stills try to appeal to the viewer, so the viewer feels like they would want to see the movie/film. They generally show an important part of the movie, but also get the viewer interested in what happens next or what lead up to that point.

5. Describe some common aesthetic aspects of yearbook photos and/or senior pictures.

Most yearbook pictures have the same feel to them. They generally have a more solid background and the person centered in the middle or the image. I think when looking at yearbook style pictures, the viewer can be reminded of a particular moment in time.
